Hello Again

Thank you to the three loyal readers who have held on! And welcome to anyone who stumbled onto the blog more recently.

We’ve moved to sunny Arizona and have been experiencing nature in droves. We’ve had a 300 lb bear killed outside our house, sited several tarantula spiders, had a dead scorpion in the house and now have a hummingbird haven in the backyard thanks to some generous relatives and neighbors.

Not only are we soaking up the sun and atmosphere, but we’ve started homeschooling. Yes, ladies and gentlemen…we’ve done it. It’s going well so far and we’re both enjoying the ride. We’ve found a terrific homeschool group here in the community and have met some terrific people who are truly supportive.

Stumbled onto this initiative on another conscientious blogger’s post.  Was even more intrigued that the Deutsch are behind it.

According to a study by Alexander Wissner-Gross, PhD, physicist at Harvard University and environmental activist, an average website causes about 0.02g (0,0008oz.) of carbon dioxide for each visit. Assuming an average blog gets 15,000 visits a month, it has yearly carbon dioxide emissions of 3,6kg (8lb.). This can mainly be tracked back to the immense energy usage from (mainframe) computers, servers, and their cooling systems.

How much carbon dioxide does your blog create?  Not sure if I’m hitting the average mark or not, but would love a tree planted on our behalf!  Are you in?!
